Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Emergency department unit with 27 beds
* Patient ratio of 4:1 with a charge nurse who typically does not carry a patient assignment
* Core staffing includes 4 RNs (or 3 RNs and a medic), 1 EMT, and 1 EMT or secretary
* Work in a busy ED with a 30% admit rate, 10% low acuity patient volume, 20% ESI 2 patient volume, and 28% EMS rate
* Perform procedures typical of a Level II trauma ED, certified chest pain center, and thrombectomy capable stroke center
* Provide psych and at-risk patient care with important patient safety monitoring
* Perform procedural sedation primarily with Propofol, Etomidate, and Ketamine
* EMR system: Meditech (DOS platform)
* Minimum 1 year of current ED hospital experience required
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC, and ENP? (PALS accepted in lieu of ENPC), CPI Blue card
* CEN certification and Meditech experience preferred
* Experience working in a high-volume ED preferred
* Must be proactive and engaged with anticipating next steps in plan of care
* Strong patient and family communication skills required
* Exceptional patient engagement and customer service skills required

This facility is a Level II trauma center, certified chest pain center, and thrombectomy capable stroke center, offering comprehensive emergency care services. The emergency department is staffed with approximately 60 team members and features stable night shift leadership with consistent charge nurse coverage. Leadership is highly engaged and frequently present in the ED, providing direct patient care, hands-on staff education and training, and patient rounding. The facility is recognized for its innovative approach to pain management, having reduced opioid usage by 34% through alternative pain management therapies.
