Opportunity:

RN - Trauma Stepdown

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* 48-hour approved contract
* Located on the 5th floor of the main building in the Surgical Trauma unit
* 25-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:4 (1:5 maximum for stepdown)
* No on-call requirement
* Floating requirement to stepdown service lines including Progressive Care Unit and Heart and Vascular Unit
* EMR system used: Meditech
* Care for patients requiring acute surgical intervention and post-operative care including trauma, bariatric, vascular, general, urological, orthopedic, neuro/spine surgeries, and GI bleed/endoscopy procedures
* Manage patients with neurological diagnoses including CVA, TIA, TBI, altered mental status, meningitis, new onset seizures, and hypertensive crisis
* Monitor and treat cardiac patients including chest pain, CHF, sepsis, hemodynamically stable, unstable angina, suspected MI, and acute cardiac dysrhythmias
* Care for respiratory distress patients requiring Venti mask, BiPAP, or CPAP
* Administer and monitor intravenous drips including Argatroban, Amiodarone, Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and others
* Perform vital signs and patient assessments every 4 hours with telemetry monitoring
* Level 2 trauma center with 90% of inpatients coming from the emergency department
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH
* Strong customer service skills required
* Trauma/orthopedic experience preferred
* Meditech experience preferred

This facility is a Level 2 trauma center offering comprehensive surgical and trauma stepdown care across a wide range of specialties. The unit operates with an experienced team including charge nurses, registered nurses, technicians, and support staff across both day and night shifts. The facility utilizes Meditech as its electronic medical records system and provides advanced cardiac, neurological, vascular, and surgical care services to a high-acuity patient population.
