Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit RN

Job Details:

* 13-week contract with possibility of extension
* 3x12 night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Weekday shifts with some weekend coverage required
* Weekend block scheduling considered (Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
* Typical patient ratio of 1:4 with flex to 1:5 in emergencies
* Patient population consists primarily of adults and geriatrics
* Unit census of 34 with 36 beds and 36 rooms
* Most patients are cardiac, including cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures, as well as other med/surg and medical patients
* Minimum 1 year of experience in med/surg or telemetry and 2 years of experience in stepdown required
* Must be able to read telemetry strips
* Required certifications: BCLS and ACLS through American Heart Association (AHA)
* Required skills: IV start and telemetry
* Proficiency with Cerner EMR required
* Dress code: Burgundy and/or white scrubs (not provided)
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
* Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
* WV or Compact License required; pending license accepted for submission
* Minimum 2 manager and/or charge nurse references from the past 2 years required

This facility operates a stepdown and immediate care unit with a focus on cardiac patients, including those recovering from cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures. The unit supports a varied patient acuity level, accommodating patients who may be classified as progressive care or telemetry patients in larger facilities. Comprehensive interdisciplinary support services are available on-site to ensure high-quality patient care across a 36-bed unit.
