RN - CVICU

Job Details:

* Minimum 2 years of experience required with Fresh Heart experience required
* Active NJ or Compact nursing license required at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* EPIC charting experience required
* Every other weekend requirement
* Clinicians must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays as needed (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years)
* Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* Patient ratios are 1:2 and may go to 1:3 based on acuity; fresh cardiac open heart patients are 1:1
* Unit capacity of 16 beds with a daily census of 12
* Must float within skillset without exception to CCU/CTICU, ICU, and/or stepdown
* Scrubs: Royal Blue
* IV therapy skills required: port access/care, blood product administration, arterial/central/PICC line care and management, starting IVs, TPN/lipids, and phlebotomy
* GU/Renal skills required: acute kidney injury, chronic/acute renal failure, CVVHD/CRRT, intake and output monitoring, pre/post hemodialysis, and shunt/fistula care
* Respiratory skills required: assist with chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP, care of ventilated patient, fresh tracheostomy, HFNC, ABG interpretation, pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, respiratory failure, suctioning (ETT, NT), and ventilator management
* Cardiac skills required: CVP, CABG, epicardial pacing wire care, Impella, IABP, post-cardiac surgery, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, PA line/Swan-Ganz monitoring, sheath removal, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, MSOF, and 12-lead EKG
* Medication skills required: continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips, and IV insulin protocols
* Neuro/additional skills required: CVA management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, fibrinogen, infection prevention, INR, isolation precautions/PPE, high-output drain management, massive transfusion protocol, abdominal compartment syndrome monitoring, and PT/PTT
* Special equipment used: Impella, balloon pump, PrisMax CRRT, TVP, AV wires, Swan-Ganz catheters, pericardial drains, and chest tubes
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
* At least 1 supervisory reference required at time of submission
* First-time travelers accepted
* Local candidates accepted

This facility is a 352-bed teaching hospital and Level II Regional Trauma Center offering comprehensive cardiovascular and critical care services. As the only full-service heart hospital in Hudson County, it provides advanced cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm repair, TAVR, and electrophysiology procedures.
