NICU RN
Job Details:
* Level III NICU position with approximately 190 births per month
* Contract option for up to 26 weeks
* Every other weekend required, may exceed to accommodate unit needs
* Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
* No on-call required
* Facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks (guaranteed hours policy)
* Patient ratios up to 1:3, staffed by acuity
* 14-bed unit serving neonates and infants
* May float to Mother/Baby unit for babies; candidates with couplet care experience may float fully
* 2 years of nursing experience required with at least 1 year in NICU specialty
* Level III NICU experience required hard stop
* Travel experience required
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP Advanced (will allow NRP if candidate is willing to obtain advanced level prior to start)
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Scrub color: Navy Blue

* 36 orientation hours
* Required skills include: central line care, arterial line management, bubble CPAP, high-frequency ventilation, oscillators, HFNC, Vapotherm, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), therapeutic hypothermia, UAC/UVC management, PICC line management, neonatal dosage calculations, IV vasopressors, titration of Dopamine and Dobutamine, Fentanyl and Versed administration, dysrhythmia interpretation, phototherapy, neonatal sepsis workup, and patient/family teaching
* Special procedures performed on unit include: central lines, ROP exams, spinal taps, and intubations (no surgeries performed at this facility)
* Special equipment used: CPAP, BIPAP, smart pumps, feeding pumps, isolettes, warmers, and high-frequency ventilators/oscillators
* Interdisciplinary support available: respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, and unit secretary
* All RTO must be submitted at time of submission; post-submittal RTO may not be considered
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years
* Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment

This acute care hospital is a 212-bed facility offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to its community. The facility holds a CCS designation and supports a large Hispanic community. The NICU operates as a Level III unit and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and interpretation services. The hospital utilizes Epic for electronic charting and offers free on-site parking for staff.
