Job Details:

* Day shift position on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 with nurse aide support at a 1:5 ratio
* 6 to 9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
* Holiday shifts required
* Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Float requirement determined by nurse manager; may float within Zone 4 if extreme need arises and will be first to float
* Call or standby requirement determined by nurse manager
* Treat patients with common diagnoses including congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain workups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
* Required to titrate drips including analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
* RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips as there are no monitor techs on the unit
* Must have NIHSS experience
* Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilators
* Charge nurse takes an assignment on this unit
* Charting system: EPIC
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* BSN not required
* Must reside within 60 miles of facility; driver's license must be submitted
* Must be present in state for the full week of orientation

The unit is supported by a structured nursing leadership team and utilizes EPIC as its electronic charting system. The facility emphasizes equitable staff scheduling and maintains clear staffing guidelines to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care across all shifts.
