RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

* Night shift position on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
* Nurse aide support available at a 1:12 ratio
* Telemonitor technicians available 24/7 - RNs are not required to read their own strips
* Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
* Minimum of six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
* Holiday shifts required
* On-call or standby requirement determined by nurse manager
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* May be asked to float to other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele units, or within Zone 4 if needed
* Common patient diagnoses include congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain workups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, acute renal failure, diabetes, wounds/wound vacs, cellulitis, joint replacements, surgical patients, sepsis, and strokes
* Common drips include analgesics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, TPN, and lipids - drip titration not required
* RT equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPap, and Heated High Flow
* Charting system: EPIC
* No scrub color code requirement
* BSN not required
* Must have strong patient communication skills
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)

This acute care facility operates a 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit providing comprehensive inpatient care for a wide range of diagnoses. The unit is supported by 24/7 telemonitoring technicians, nurse aide staff, and charge nurse coverage, creating a well-structured team environment.
