Open Position: Lab Specialist - Lab Tech

Opportunity:

Histology Tech

Job Details:

* Work Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM
* Minimum of 2 years of experience within histology or pathology laboratory specialty required
* Required certification: ASCP (HT/HLT)
* Successful completion of a formal histology technologist training program or an Associate's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences required
* Receive specimens from surgery and accession specimens into Cerner
* Collect blocks from PA staff and process tissue
* Perform embedding, cutting, and staining of slides
* Work within a department that encompasses Pathology, Cytology, and IHC
* Must work 2 major holidays out of the following 3: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day
* Must work 1 minor holiday: the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or New Year's Eve
* No local candidates within 50 miles considered

This healthcare facility operates a comprehensive laboratory department that includes Histology, Pathology, Cytology, and Immunohistochemistry (IHC) services. The laboratory utilizes Cerner for specimen accessioning and management, supporting a wide range of diagnostic services. The facility maintains high standards for laboratory operations and provides essential pathological diagnostic support across multiple specialties.
