RN - Labor and Delivery

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts in a Labor and Delivery unit
* Every other to every third weekend required
* Half of holidays required, rotating annually
* On-call or standby requirement equates to 1-2 twelve-hour shifts per 6-week period, which can be broken into 4-hour blocks with a 30-minute callback time
* Unit consists of 7 L&D beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 7 postpartum beds
* Minimum 1 year of L&D experience required; LDRP experience ideal
* Must be comfortable with OR circulating and recovery, stabilizing newborns, couplet care post-recovery, and clean gynecological procedures such as hysterectomies
* Common diagnoses include labor, preeclampsia, hypertension, obesity, gestational diabetes, and preterm labor (GA 32 weeks/1,500 grams minimum; lesser cases transferred)
* Required to titrate drips including Pitocin and Insulin
* Charting system: EPIC
* EFM system: OBIX
* Hospital-provided scrubs; waterproof, non-slip shoes required
* Department-specific orientation provided for up to 3 shifts
* Floating may occur only in critical need situations to Med/Surg as helping hands or sitter; no full patient assignment when floating
* Illinois nursing license required
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a self-staffed Labor and Delivery unit that follows AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios. The unit is supported by OB Hospitalists available in-house, anesthesia coverage Monday through Friday during day shifts with rapid response at other times, and remote telemetry monitoring capabilities. The facility delivers approximately 255 births annually and provides comprehensive obstetric care including gynecological procedures.
