Opportunity:

RN - Ambulatory Oncology

Job Details:

* Work five 8-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday (shift start and end times may vary based on department needs)
* No weekend, floating, or on-call requirements
* No scheduling requests can be accommodated - traveler must remain flexible
* 2 years of ambulatory oncology RN experience required
* Hepatobiliary and surgical experience required as RN will be triaging and calling post-operative patients
* First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 3 years of oncology RN experience
* California RN license required and must be active at time of submission
* Required certifications: BLS; Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred; OCN preferred
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Trauma Level I experience preferred
* Provide ambulatory practice management including efficient clinic flow and continuity of patient care
* Complete pertinent nursing assessments and interventions
* Perform telephone triage of clinic patients and ensure new patient records are received and abstracted for physician review
* Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, chemotherapy, surgery, BMT, and CARt teaching, as well as treatment side effects
* Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous chemotherapy injections
* Work with CADD pumps for continuous infusions and access, de-access, and troubleshoot PAS-ports and chest ports
* Assist physicians with in-office minor surgical procedures such as excisional biopsy, wide excision, JP drain and wound vacuum care, wound drainage, and other minor surgical procedures
* Work with special equipment including PAS-ports and CADD pumps
* Required clinical skills include: Acute Tumor Lysis Syndrome (ATLS), administration of blood and blood products, altered mental status, anaphylaxis, care and management of ports, central line and implanted line care, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, outpatient oncology, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
* Care for oncology patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric age groups across clinics including Hematology Oncology (CARt/BMT/Stem Cell Transplant) and Solid Tumors (GYN, GI, GU, Breast, and Thoracic Oncology)
* Interpretation services available as interdisciplinary support
