Med Surg RN

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour day shifts Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
* Patient ratio of 1:5 for days, nights, and weekends
* Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
* Weekend coverage required as needed
* Float to other units including telemetry required
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* Travel experience required - no first-time travelers
* Local candidates accepted
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS - must be in-hand when applying
* Epic charting system experience required and must be noted in work history
* Community hospital experience preferred
* Two (2) supervisor references required when applying
* Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, bariatric surgery, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, chest tubes, colostomy/ileostomy management, continuous bladder irrigation, CVA care, feeding tube care and management, heparin administration, high flow nasal cannula, insulin administration, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, cardiac drip management, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and additional med/surg skills
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and lift teams
* Orthopedic surgery experience relevant to this unit

Facility:

This medical center operates a dedicated medical-surgical unit with 30 beds and a daily census of approximately 20 patients. The unit provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, pharmacy, and unit secretarial support. The facility specializes in orthopedic surgical care and utilizes Epic as its primary charting system, maintaining a consistent 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio across all shifts.
