RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

* 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 AM
* Weekend requirement: every other weekend required; night shift weekends are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
* Holiday requirement: rotates with regular staff
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Floating to other units as a tasker or extra set of hands is required
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of no more than 5 patients per nurse
* Unit accommodates both RN and LPN staff with 3 nurse aides per shift
* Common diagnoses include chest pain, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic cases, detox, post-operative surgery, and pediatric patients
* Unit does not manage laboring mothers or titrating cardiac or insulin drips
* Strong med/surg background required due to variety of patient types
* ICU monitors readings are faxed to the med/surg nurse for documentation; RNs are not required to read their own strips
* RT manages CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen equipment
* House supervisor manages assignments for nurses and aides; no charge nurse on unit
* EPIC experience required for charting
* Scrub color requirement: any color except camouflage or orange
* 3 to 5 days of on-unit orientation training provided
* Extra shifts may be available; manager is open to working with block scheduling preferences
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS (required for all RNs and LPNs); ACLS and PALS recommended but not required
* BSN not required
* Valid driver's license copy required with submission
