Opportunity:
RN - PCU Oncology
Job Details:
* 12-hour shifts available on days (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM) and nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
* Every other weekend required
* Self-scheduling available but will be balanced to the needs of the unit
* Primary patient population includes adult oncology PCU and trauma PCU patients
* 18-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on both days and nights
* Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Oncology experience preferred; strong PCU experience without oncology may be considered
* Charge nurse experience not required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)
* ONS/ONCC certification preferred but not required
* Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
* Two days of unit orientation provided
* Travelers may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care
* Must be comfortable titrating insulin and Cardizem drips
* Common drips and medications include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix
* Respiratory equipment commonly encountered includes high-flow oxygen
* EMR system: Epic
* IV pumps: Alaris
* Lyko lifts available in even-numbered rooms with additional lift equipment available
* Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
* Must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
* Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; valid driver's license required at submittal
* Up to 4 shifts may be cancelled per 13-week assignment; up to 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
