RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Weekend night shift schedule covering Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
* 3 weekend shifts required in a 4-week schedule (Saturday, Sunday, Saturday)
* Holiday shifts required as needed
* No on-call or standby call requirements
* Floating requirement is very rare
* 32-bed stepdown unit with patient ratios of 1:3 for stepdown assignments and 1:4 for combo assignments
* 3 shifts of unit orientation provided
* Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
* Charting system: EPIC
* Care setting: Acute
* Must have strong MedSurg Stepdown experience
* Must be able to titrate drips and read strips
* Common diagnoses include post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients
* Titrate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix (no vasopressors)
* Interpret and chart patient rhythm with assessments every 4 hours or more frequently during medication titration
* Work with BiPap and traches (no ventilators)
* 3-4 CNAs per shift available on unit
* Scrub color: Royal Blue
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
* BSN not required

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a 32-bed stepdown unit with comprehensive support services including charge nurses and house supervisors available in-house at all times. The unit is equipped with centralized telemetry monitoring at the nurses' station as well as individual patient room monitors, providing thorough cardiac oversight for stepdown and combination patient assignments. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic charting system and maintains a structured care environment for post-surgical thoracic and medical patients.
