RN - Oncology

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
* Every other weekend requirement with rotating holidays alongside staff
* 29-bed oncology unit on 7th floor; travelers will only work on the floor (not outpatient area)
* Patient ratios of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
* Charge nurse is out of the staffing grid unless unusual circumstances arise
* Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
* Telemetry monitoring available via central monitor; reading strips is not required
* Floating occurs rarely and only to medical acute unit
* 3-day floor-specific orientation provided
* Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end of life care
* Outpatient area patients may come to the floor to finish treatment if outpatient area closes
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred
* ONS certification required if administering chemotherapy with a minimum of 2 years of experience in specialty
* Minimum 1 year of oncology experience required with at least 1 prior travel assignment
* No first-time travelers accepted
* Must reside within 75 miles of the facility based on driver's license address; must provide this information at time of submission
* Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
