Opportunity:

RN - Pediatrics Step Down

Job Details:

* 12-hour variable day and night shifts with the ability to work a combination of days and nights within a 4-week scheduling period
* Must be willing and able to float to multiple locations as needed, including stepdown and/or transitional care units
* Must be available to work Christmas and New Year's holidays
* Variable weekend shifts per contract
* Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* BSN required
* California RN license required
* Teaching hospital experience required
* Required certifications: AHA BLS, PALS
* CPI preferred
* Charting system: Epic (required)
* Required skills include: Anti-seizure medications, BiPAP/CPAP management, breastfeeding support/handling of breast milk, central line blood draw, central line/implanted line care, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), infection prevention, indwelling urinary catheter insertion and management, isolation precautions/PPE, chest tube management, NG tube insertion/management, oxygen delivery systems, pediatric med/surg, pediatric step down, peripheral line care/management, peritoneal dialysis/CAPD, renal failure, seizure disorders, starting and maintaining IVs, TPN/lipids, tracheostomy care/management, and behavioral health
* Patient age groups include adolescents, infants, adults, and pediatrics
* Patient diagnoses include acute/chronic respiratory, GI disorders, eating disorders, seizures/Video EEG, rehab, headache/migraine, rhythm monitoring, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, peritoneal dialysis, solid organ transplant (kidney/liver), and spinal fusion
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, transportation, and unit secretary

This world-class academic medical center is a leading teaching hospital affiliated with a prestigious university health system. The facility operates a comprehensive pediatric unit with 28 beds and a daily census of 25 patients, providing specialized care across multiple pediatric subspecialties. The unit offers robust interdisciplinary support services and state-of-the-art resources to support complex patient care needs across a wide range of diagnoses.
