Job Details:
* Night shift position with weekend requirements on Fridays and Saturdays
* Block scheduling available when requested in contract
* Holiday rotation with permanent staff
* Standby requirement with 45-minute response time when placed on standby
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Charting system: EPIC (includes an 8-hour EPIC class during orientation)
* Unit orientation includes an 8-hour compliance day with unit-based educator and 2-3 twelve-hour shifts for unit-specific orientation
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program); intermediate or advanced FHM preferred
* Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required; no first-time travelers
* Must have LDRP experience
* Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
* Must be comfortable assisting with catching baby and transitioning baby
* Must be able to titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin
* Must be comfortable functioning in Postpartum with routine mom and baby competencies, transitioning babies, and attending low-risk deliveries
* Common patient diagnoses include high risk, preeclampsia, diabetic, psych/social issues, and positive elicit substance use (32 weeks and above)
* Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 for L&D and 1:3-4 for couplets
* Scrubs are provided along with a locker
* Must be open and adaptable to unit workflows, policies and procedures, and feedback
* 2 years of references required with each submittal

Facility:
This acute care facility houses a Birthing Center and Mother Baby unit that averages 170-190 births per month, with over 2,100 deliveries completed in 2025. The unit includes 13 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds. The facility provides 24/7 in-house OB/GYN hospitalist support, 24/7 neonatal nurse practitioner coverage in the nursery, and 24/7 OB anesthesia with a dedicated call room on the unit. A surgical technician is available around the clock, and respiratory therapy is assigned to the family birth unit. PACU tele monitoring is available following C-sections, and the unit utilizes Centricity Perinatal as its EFM system.
