Opportunity:

RN - Pediatric / MST

Job Details:

* 12-hour shifts available on day shift (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) or night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
* Night shift schedule with every other weekend requirement (Friday and Saturday nights)
* Must be available to work 11/25 through 11/27
* First to float when census is low, with standby rotation during low census periods
* Mixed unit caring for both adult and pediatric patients with varying ratios
* Pediatric patient ratio: 1:3-4; MST patient ratio: 1:5
* Unit has 10 beds
* Float responsibilities include MCU, MST unit for adult patients, and birthing unit for mom-baby couplets; those with Labor and Delivery experience may also float there
* Common diagnoses include surgical cases (total hip and knee replacement, small bowel resection, hysterectomy, exploratory lap), medical cases (MRSA, C-diff, COPD, pneumonia), telemetry (chest pain), and pediatric cases (RSV, influenza, seizures, dehydration, appendectomy, FTT)
* No titratable drips required
* Administer high flow oxygen to stabilize patients for transfer; care for stable adult patients requiring BiPap for chronic conditions
* No feeding tubes, trachs, or vents; will assist to stabilize if needed for transfer
* RNs must be able to read telemetry strips for adult MST patients; remote monitor techs are available
* Nurse aides take 10 patients; if no aide is available, RN takes 3 patients and provides primary care
* Charting system: Cerner
* Holiday rotation required to distribute holidays fairly
* Scrub color: Navy
* Must pass dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to signing contract
* Experience working with children is required; must also be comfortable caring for adult patients
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS
* BSN not required

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a mixed Pediatric and Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit that serves both adult and pediatric patients across a 10-bed unit. The facility provides comprehensive inpatient services including surgical, medical, telemetry, and pediatric care, supported by remote monitor technicians and a Charge RN who oversees 50 inpatient beds spanning MST, Pediatrics, and an Acuity Adaptable MCU unit.
