Opportunity:

RN - Inpatient Oncology Float Pool

Job Details:

* Every other weekend requirement
* Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays as needed (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years)
* Patient ratio of 1:5; ratios vary based on unit, census, patient acuity, and staffing
* Patient population includes all liquid/solid tumor oncology diagnoses, BMT, clinical trials, surgical oncology, general MS/Tele, and hematologic malignancies including leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma
* Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* Scrubs: Navy Blue
* Must float within skillset without exception; may float to Oncology units, MS/Tele, Stepdown, and PCU/IMC
* EPIC charting experience required
* 2 years of experience required; teaching hospital experience required
* Work settings include Inpatient Oncology, PCU/IMC, and MS/Tele
* Active NJ or Compact license required at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card
* Must be proficient in chemotherapy/biotherapy including immunotherapy, cytotoxic therapy, continuous infusions, IV push/oral chemo, post-chemo body fluid handling, cytotoxic spill response, and recognizing/managing treatment side effects
* Must be proficient in IV therapy including port access, central line blood draws, PICC line care, IV starts, phlebotomy, infusion pumps, and administration of blood products and antifungals/antivirals
* Medication management includes antibiotics, antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, Neupogen, IV push narcotics, PCA management, and transdermal patches
* Must be able to recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies including ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
* Symptom management includes skin and mucous membrane changes, altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, and neuropathy
* Additional skills required: advance directives, hospice care, patient/family education and support, chest tube care, dysrhythmia interpretation, neutropenic precautions, and tracheostomy care
* At least 1 supervisory reference required at time of submission

This state-of-the-art cancer center is a 12-story, 520,000-square-foot facility that opened in June 2025, providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cancer services, advanced imaging, radiation oncology, and interventional radiology. The facility operates through a partnership with the state's only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, reflecting a strong commitment to cutting-edge oncology care and research. Interdisciplinary support services include physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary support.
