RN - Labor & Delivery (High Risk)
Job Details:
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required; 5 years of high-risk experience preferred
* Experience in high acuity and high-paced environments required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Schedule posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs; work every other weekend and holidays as needed
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
* Float required between Postpartum and Antepartum; may float to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
* Patient ratio experience: 1:2
* Average daily census of 15 patients per day with 500-600 deliveries per month; 31 rooms and 31 beds
* Must function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum hard stop requirement
* Must be able to circulate for C-sections hard stop requirement
* Must provide newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections, thigh assessments, and newborn assessments hard stop requirement
* Administer and manage Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
* Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
* Epic EMR system experience required hard stop requirement
* Electronic fetal monitoring experience required
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
* Key skills include: amnioinfusion, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, APGAR scores, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, cesarean section, circulating for C-sections, couplet care, epidural anesthesia, hemorrhage/shock management, high-risk antepartum care, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, neonatal resuscitation, newborn assessment, pitocin (oxytocin), postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension management, and triage of obstetrical patients
* Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
* 2 supervisory references required, covering 1 year within the last 3 years

This facility is a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit operating 4 operating rooms and serving a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and those supported by Adult Recovery Services and community care clinics. The unit maintains a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, following AWHONN staffing guidelines, and is supported by a comprehensive interdisciplinary team including respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams. The environment is fast-paced and high-acuity, requiring experienced clinicians who are comfortable managing complex obstetric cases and providing comprehensive newborn care.
