Opportunity:

RN - Family Birthing Center/LDRP

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, first to float
* Weekend requirements: 2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Nights: Friday/Saturday, Days: Saturday/Sunday)
* Holiday rotation with core staff required
* May be placed on-call/standby on scheduled shifts with expected 30-minute call back response time
* Floating requirements to all other Sacramento facilities
* Scheduling provided 4 weeks in advance
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Charting system: Cerner
* Must be comfortable performing NRP at delivery with no in-house pediatric coverage
* Must be able to titrate drips including pitocin and occasional insulin
* Must be comfortable working in LDRP setting with OBED beds, LDRP beds, overflow postpartum beds, OR suite for C-sections, and NICU with 2 beds for newborn stabilization
* Unit averages 70-80 births per month and 60-70 NST antepartum tests per month
* Labor ratios: 1:2, with 1:1 at delivery; Mother/Baby couplet ratio 1:4
* OB Tech scheduled each shift; charge nurse or nurse shift manager on every shift
* RT attends every delivery and assists with respiratory support and equipment including ventilator, CPAP, and bubble CPAP
* EFM system: Fetalink; GE fetal monitors used to record maternal heart rhythm
* Minimum 1 year of LDRP experience required; 3 years preferred
* Will accept L&D only candidates with OR circulating experience; postpartum-only experience not accepted
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), AWHONN Advanced EFM

Facility:

This acute care facility features a dedicated Family Birthing Center with an LDRP unit equipped with OBED beds, LDRP beds, overflow postpartum beds, and an OR suite for C-sections. The unit includes a NICU with 2 beds for newborn stabilization and is supported by a perinatal specialist to help improve neonatal outcomes. OB coverage is available in-house 24/7, and anesthesia is on-call with a 20-minute response time, remaining in-house for the duration of any patient with an epidural.
