Job Details:

* Mixed unit position covering PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg levels
* Patient ratio of 1:4 on all shifts
* Every other weekend required
* Charge experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* 2 years of experience required with familiarity of intermediate medication drips including heparin, nitro, cardizem, and insulin
* Floating within service line between multiple facilities as needed
* Float units include Neuro/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Trauma, Oncology, General Surgery, Uro/Vascular, and Observation
* No block scheduling available
* Requested time off greater than 7 days requires management approval
* Treat adult and geriatric patient populations
* Patient diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, atrial fibrillation, TIA, anemia/GI bleed, dehydration/AKI, syncope, vertigo, COPD, asthma, UTI/pyelonephritis, headache/migraine, CHF, seizure, carbon monoxide poisoning, pancreatitis, cellulitis, and post-outpatient surgery complications
* Fast-paced department with a length of stay goal of 18 to 24 hours
* Approximately two-thirds of patients managed under EDOBS providers within the department from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and reachable via phone call to the ED from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Work setting involves telemetry monitoring
* Observation medicine experience preferred
* Trauma Level I experience preferred
* Skills required include CVA management, heparin protocols, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, cardiac drip management without titration, management of dysrhythmias, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, telemetry, titration of insulin drips, and traumatic brain injury management
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Epic charting experience required
* Parking is free
* Schedules are subject to change with two weeks notice given by the facility
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
