RN - Stepdown/PCU/Telemetry

Job Details:

* Schedule options available: 4x12s or 3x12s advise preference upon submission
* Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
* Travel experience required
* Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
* Patient ratio: 1:5-6 days/nights; 1:6 weekends; 32-bed unit
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Charting systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
* HARD STOP: Must have prior experience managing the following continuous IV medications:
- Cardiac drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin
- Diuretics: Bumex, Lasix
- Anticoagulants: Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin
- Insulin drips
* Unit serves as Overflow IMCU managing conditions including: Arrhythmia management, Cardioversion, Cardiac CHF, Chest pain, Renal, Pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, Cardiac Arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), Surgical cases (cholecystectomy, appendectomies, chest tubes, biliary drains), Post Cardiac Cath, TR Bands, DKA, and occasional Ortho or CVA patient overflow
* Must have basic arrhythmia knowledge, hemodynamic monitoring, and care of post-PCI patients
* Must be proficient across the full Med/Surg umbrella of care
* Required skills include: Cardiac Telemetry, Central line care/management, Blood Product Administration, Heparin Protocols, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, Titration of insulin drips, TR Band, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting and maintaining IVs, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
* Special equipment: RT 24/7 High Flow, BiPAP; Telemetry competency exam required
* Interdisciplinary support available: Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation
* Weekend coverage required: typically every other weekend; permanent staff are scheduled first and travelers fill in the gaps (approximately 6 weekend shifts per contract)
* Floating required within the facility and scope of practice as needed
* Call is rare; response time is 2 hours; travelers typically do not manage Precedex
* Holiday coverage: travelers are expected to work major holidays that fall within their assignment period
* Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Epic charting experience preferred
