Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend requirement (4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule)
* Holiday shifts worked into permanent staff rotation
* Standby/call requirement applies
* First to float; may float to telemetry or OB unit if desired and experienced
* Self-scheduling available to some degree with schedules made 30-45 days in advance
* 2-3 day unit-specific orientation, including a scavenger hunt portion
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
* 45-bed combined adult Med/Surg and pediatric Med/Surg telemetry unit
* Common diagnoses include COPD, post-op, GI bleeds, OBGYN surgeries, ortho, sepsis, altered mental status, chest pain rule-out, stroke, cellulitis, and ETOH withdrawal
* Required to titrate Heparin drips; may also encounter Protonix drips
* Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen
* Charting system: Cerner
* Telemetry experience required
* 2-3 years of Med/Surg experience required
* Pediatric experience preferred; travelers without pediatric experience will not be assigned pediatric patients
* BSN not required
* Navy blue scrubs required
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS; PALS preferred

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Level 3 trauma center offering a fast-paced Med/Surg environment where patients move quickly with an average length of stay of 3 days. The unit benefits from a team lead charge nurse who does not carry a patient assignment, nurse aides available during most hours, and hospitalist coverage. The facility supports a collaborative care setting with access to respiratory therapy services and telemetry monitoring.
