Opportunity:

RN - NICU

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts required
* Every other weekend requirement
* Rotating holidays with core staff
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Self-scheduling utilized, balanced by manager and done 6 weeks at a time
* Level III NICU unit with 13 private rooms
* Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN staffing guidelines: most assignments 1:2, occasional 1:1, feeder grower infants 1:3
* Minimum 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required
* Must be proficient with NC, HFNC, BCPAP, vents, chest tubes, UVC, UAC, and ELBW infants
* Delivery experience highly preferred
* NICU nurses attend deliveries and complete admissions as part of couplet care model
* May be asked to assist with newborns on Mother Baby unit including lab work, infants on observation/transition, or taking a newborn assignment
* Common diagnoses include PPHN, prematurity (25-34 weeks), hypoglycemia, and respiratory support cases
* RT equipment includes bubble CPAP, high flow NC, vents, and NIPPV
* RNs read monitor strips independently
* May float between College Station and Bryan campus (16 minutes apart) as first float priority
* May flex to Resource Nurse role to assist Mother Baby staff with circumcisions, lab draws, CCHD, car seat studies, deliveries, and admissions
* May take a neonatal assignment of up to 6 infants if needed
* May be asked to precept as needed by the unit
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* Scrub color: Navy - undershirts must be navy, scrub jackets optional but must be navy if worn
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP Advanced, and STABLE (must be up to date before coming onsite)

This acute care facility operates a Level III NICU with 13 private rooms, providing specialized neonatal care in partnership with Texas Children's Hospital for phone consultations and transfer cases. The unit is supported by a neonatologist in house 24/7 and follows AWHONN staffing guidelines to ensure high-quality patient care. The facility maintains two nearby campuses and offers a collaborative environment with resources across multiple departments.
