Open Position: RN - Stepdown

Opportunity:

RN - Neuro Stepdown & EMU

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
* Holiday rotation participation required
* 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for EMU floor
* 4 nurse aides per shift with a ratio of 1:8-9
* Charge nurse available 24/7
* Care for higher acuity neuroscience patients including strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and epilepsy monitoring
* Experience with EVDs preferred; TPA patients managed by permanent staff only
* Strong neuro experience required with history of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH stroke scale
* Possible floating to units 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W
* EPIC charting system experience required
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7; RNs not required to have vent experience
* Telemetry present on unit; RNs not required to read strips
* Titration performed by physician orders only with some protocol-based exceptions
* Scrub color: Royal Blue
* Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission); ACLS preferred
* BSN not required
* Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility

This facility is home to a specialized Neuroscience Institute featuring an inpatient step-down unit and an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. The facility operates with a strong focus on high-acuity neurological care, providing comprehensive support services including 24/7 charge nurse coverage and around-the-clock respiratory therapy. The organization maintains a well-structured care environment with established protocols to support both clinical staff and patients across multiple specialized neurological units.
