Emergency Room (RN)

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts with varied start times: 7a-7p, 9a-9p, 11a-11p, 2p-2a, 7p-7a
* Every other weekend requirement
* Every other holiday requirement
* Nurse to patient ratios: 1:3-4 based on acuity, potentially 1:5 if boarding patients are grouped together
* 1-2 shifts of emergency department specific orientation required
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
* Any color scrubs permitted for dress code
* Epic charting system used
* BSN not required
* Rare floating requirements due to census and staffing needs
* First to float on nights
* Must work with trauma patients (Level II trauma center)
* Care for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics including traumas, strokes, STEMI, and various emergency conditions
* Handle critical care drips for ICU holds including vasopressors, heparin, and antiarrhythmics
* Draw labs from IV starts and perform EKGs, patient care, and vital signs
* Read and interpret telemetry strips with physician verification
* Transport unstable patients to CT when needed
* 50 mile radius rule applies

Facility:

This healthcare facility operates a Level II trauma center emergency department with 21 beds including a fast track area and vertical flow system. The emergency department treats 50-60 patients daily with mostly ESI Level 3 acuity patients. The facility features an in-house security office located within the emergency department, one psychiatric room with cameras, and boarding capabilities for stable patients. The department is staffed with physicians 24/7 with respiratory therapy available in-house as needed.
