Medsurg Oncology

Job Details:

* 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
* Every other weekend requirement with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
* First to float policy - may float to telemetry at a 1:4 ratio or between medical-surgical floors
* Patient ratio of 1:5, or 1:4 if one patient is receiving chemotherapy
* Primarily care for oncology patients with potential overflow medical-surgical patients
* Comfortable caring for oncology patients required; chemotherapy administration is not required
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry using portable telemetry box as needed; dysrhythmia exam required
* Charting system: Cerner
* 1 orientation shift on unit
* Clinical supervisor on duty who does not take patient assignments but provides break relief
* Nurse aide support available for 8 hours during day shifts
* Hospitalist available in-house 24/7; respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
* No ventilator management required
* No IV team on site
* Monitor technician available
* Navy scrub color required
* Work holidays into permanent staff rotation
* Minimum 2-3 years of medical-surgical or oncology experience required
* Travel experience required; must be a team player
* Required certifications: BLS
* Trauma Level 2 acute care setting

This acute care facility operates a 17-bed medical-surgical oncology unit providing specialized care for oncology patients as well as overflow medical-surgical cases. The facility maintains 24/7 hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy support, ensuring comprehensive care resources are always available. The organization is a Level 2 trauma center committed to delivering high-quality patient care within a collaborative and well-supported clinical environment.
