Open Position: RN - Med Surg

Opportunity:

M/S RN - 12 HR Variable Shift

Job Details:

* 13-week contract with an ASAP start date
* 12-hour day shifts from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM
* Guaranteed 36 hours per week, except during holidays when the unit is closed
* Block scheduling is not available at this facility
* Rotating schedule with 1-2 weeks of night shifts followed by 1-2 weeks of day shifts depending on unit needs
* Every 3rd weekend required with holiday rotation
* Float to like units as needed within the Critical Access Hospital
* On-call only if agreeable due to low census; call back occurs only in emergency situations with a 30-minute response time
* Med/Surg unit has 20 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of up to 1:5, typical ratio of 1:3-4
* Average daily census of 8-10 patients, including skilled care, acute, observation, and same-day surgical patients
* CNAs available on both shifts
* Must be able to work in a charge nurse capacity as back-up; previous charge experience strongly preferred
* Must have cared for patients younger than 18 years of age
* Minimum 2+ years of experience in Med/Surg specialty required
* Previous experience working in a Critical Access Hospital is required
* EPIC charting experience preferred
* Required certifications: Iowa RN license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and AHA PALS
* Associate Degree or Certificate required
* Scrub color is staff choice for Med/Surg

Facility:

This facility is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (Level IV) serving a rural community with essential inpatient and outpatient healthcare services, including 24/7 emergency care. The Med/Surg floor consists of 20 beds, while the OB unit features 4 LDRP rooms and 1 post-partum/C-section prep room, averaging 85-90 deliveries per year. The facility is designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to its rural community while maintaining access to essential medical care.
