Opportunity:

RN - Step Down Unit

Job Details:

* Night shift position from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* May be required to float to Medical/Surgical unit as needed
* Minimum 2 years of recent experience in field required
* 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience in last 2 years preferred
* Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
* Completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Course preferred
* Completion of Critical Care Course preferred
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA approved vendor), ACLS (AHA or ARC approved vendor), NIHSS certification required within 6 months of hire
* Current RN nursing license in state of practice required
* Provide appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations
* Competency required in medication administration, intravenous therapy including blood products, care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains, and safe use of medical equipment in the critical care setting
* Accurately interpret ECG rhythms and manage care of patients during life-threatening emergencies
* Verify alarm settings with Monitor Technician according to policy
* Demonstrate knowledge of lead functions and application, and make recommendations for best monitoring based on patient presentation
* Demonstrate knowledge and skills in care and management of patients post coronary intervention requiring femoral sheath removal with Femostop Device
* Demonstrate knowledge and skills in care and management of patients post permanent pacemaker placement, post AICD placement, and patients admitted with stable acute coronary conditions
* Supervise and delegate care responsibilities to ancillary personnel within their scope of practice

This 162-bed acute care facility has been serving its community since 1959 and includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a county-designated trauma center. The facility provides a comprehensive range of acute care services and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care across multiple specialties. The step-down unit focuses on cardiac monitoring and management, supporting patients through critical recovery phases with advanced medical equipment and a skilled nursing team.
