Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts with varying start times; Day/Mid shifts start at 7:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, or 1:00 PM; Night shifts start at 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM, or 7:00 PM (must be flexible with start times and cannot request a set start time)
* Every other weekend required
* Must work 2 of 3 major holidays during the holiday season
* May float between two emergency department locations approximately 7 miles/15 minutes apart
* Patient ratio of 1:3-4
* 31-bed emergency department unit
* Charge nurse and unit secretary support available
* Paramedics on unit handle IV starts, IV fluids, discharges, and tech duties; CNAs handle tech duties
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7
* Pharmacy available 24/7 with ER pharmacist available on days, 5 days per week
* Charting system: Cerner
* Equipment includes GE Lifepacks monitors, Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators, Draeger ventilators, Vision BiPAP, and V60s
* Scrub color: Navy
* Common patient diagnoses include MVAs, GSWs, CVA/stroke, MI/chest pain, high-risk OB, psychiatric holds, cardioversions, conscious sedation for closed fractures, and pediatric cases (11% pediatric population)
* 2-6 physicians and 2-4 midlevels in-house
* 2-3 days of floor-specific orientation provided
* Pass/fail simulation lab on day 1 of orientation (study guides provided)
* Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance
* Moderate conscious sedation competency testing required
* Minimum 2 years of ER/Trauma experience required
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC

Facility:

This acute care emergency department features a 31-bed unit staffed with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, midlevels, paramedics, CNAs, charge nurses, and unit secretaries. The facility operates as both a stroke center and chest pain center, handling a wide range of high-acuity cases. Comprehensive support services including 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy are available to support the emergency care team.
