Opportunity:

RN - Surgical Care Unit (Med/Surg)

Job Details:

* Night shift position on a 28-bed 3rd floor Surgical Care Unit (Med/Surg)
* Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
* 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
* Holiday requirement applies
* Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
* Required to wear Navy Blue scrubs
* Charting system: EPIC
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
* General med/surg experience required; surgical population experience preferred
* Care for post-surgical patients with drains, chest tubes, and pain management needs
* Required to titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
* Unit monitored by tele techs in central monitoring room
* Respiratory therapy equipment includes nasal cannula up to 6L, CPAP, and BiPAP (night use only)
* Nurse aides available on the unit
* May be asked to float within Zone 3 or to other acuity levels including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele based on department needs
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Call or standby requirements determined by Nurse Manager

The unit is supported by a central telemetry monitoring room staffed by tele techs, ensuring continuous patient oversight. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and maintains a structured yet flexible scheduling environment to support both clinical staff and patient care needs.
