Job Details:

* Prepare thin slices of human, animal, or plant tissue on slides for analysis
* Examine, fix, and process tissue for proper sample preservation
* Surround tissue with paraffin wax through the embedding process
* Cut tissue samples using a microtome or cryostat
* Mount tissue samples on slides for analysis
* Stain or dye samples to emphasize abnormalities
* Recognize factors that affect procedures and quality results, taking appropriate corrective action when necessary
* Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment and instruments
* Manage supplies and laboratory quality-control procedures as needed
* No on-call responsibilities
* Weekends generally not required unless fewer than 4 histotechnicians are available throughout the week
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a Histotech required
* HT or HTL certification through ASCP required
