RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts with weekends and holidays as scheduled
* Weekend requirement of 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule (Saturday, Sunday, Saturday)
* Required to work holidays if needed
* No on-call or standby call requirements
* Floating is very rare
* Patient ratios of 1:3 for stepdown assignments and 1:4 for combo assignments (2 stepdown & 2 floor patients or 3 stepdown & 1 floor patients)
* 32-bed unit with 3-4 CNAs per shift and 1 charge nurse on duty
* Care for post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients
* Must have strong Med-Surg Stepdown experience and ability to titrate drips and read strips
* Titrate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix (no vasopressors)
* Interpret and chart patient rhythm with assessments every 4 hours or more frequently during medication titration
* Work with BiPap and trach patients (no ventilators)
* Charting system: EPIC
* 3 shifts of unit orientation provided
* Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
* Scrub color: Royal Blue
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a 32-bed stepdown unit equipped with centralized telemetry monitoring at the nurses' station and individual patient room monitors. The unit provides specialized care for post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients, supported by a dedicated team including charge nurses, house supervisors, and certified nursing assistants. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic health records system and maintains a structured orientation program to ensure staff are well-prepared for their assignments.
