Open Position: RN - Acute Med Surg Acute Care

Opportunity:

RN - Medical Surgical

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend required
* Rotate shifts with permanent staff
* Patient ratio of 1:6 for both days and nights
* 14-bed unit providing acute care services
* Care for patients with conditions including diabetes, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, post-surgical cases, amputations, wound care, DVTs, ETOH, and psych patients
* Administer medications including Lasix, Bumex, and Heparin
* Monitored unit - nurses not required to read strips
* CPAP used at night; BiPAP available on night shift only
* CNA support available at approximately 1:12 ratio; may be pulled for 1:1 and sitter assignments
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* Dress code: Caribbean Blue top and bottom, White top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all white top and bottom
* No artificial, shellac, or gel nails permitted - polished nails only
* No bags allowed at the nurses station; locker with lock permitted
* Strict attendance policy in place
* Primary Care Nursing model
* Must be able to handle high acuity, high turnover, and fast-paced environment
* 2 years of experience required in specialty with at least 1 prior travel assignment
* Experience at a larger acute care organization required - no Critical Access Hospital experience accepted
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
* ACLS preferred
* Strict 75-mile radius rule applies

Facility:

This facility is a large 483-bed main campus hospital providing comprehensive acute care services. The organization maintains high standards for patient safety and quality of care, operating a fast-paced environment with high acuity and high patient turnover. The unit supports a multidisciplinary care team including LPNs and CNA staff, with access to dialysis nursing support and cross-coverage to acute care and cardiology units as needed.
