Job Details:

* 4x12 or 3x12 day shift schedule with weekday and weekend coverage required
* 3 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period
* 13-week contract with possible extension
* 34-bed medical/surgical unit with telemetry
* Patient ratios of 1:5-7 for days, nights, and weekends
* Daily census of approximately 30 patients
* Adult patient population
* Charting system: Cerner
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS
* Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
* WV or Compact License required; pending license accepted for submission
* Candidate must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility; candidates between 75-100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
* Skills required include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care/management, chest tube management, CVA care, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, telemetry monitoring, PCA management, peripheral and PICC line management, phlebotomy, wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
* Clinical nurse coordinators provide leadership on every shift with daily huddles and patient rounding
* Facility will only tolerate 2-3 call-offs per contract
* Orientation: 12 hours, completed prior to start date

This facility's Medicine Unit is a dynamic 34-bed unit dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions. The unit fosters a collaborative team environment consisting of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, clinical assistants, unit clerks, and patient care technicians who work together to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. An acuity tool is utilized to optimize patient assignments and ensure appropriate staffing levels, while clinical nurse coordinators provide leadership on every shift. The nurse manager maintains a strong daily presence on the unit, actively engaging with both staff and patients.
