Job Details:
* First-time travelers welcome
* Variable weekend schedule required (every other or as needed)

* Patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 depending on acuity
* May float between all units; only patients under the age of 2 on pediatric units (travelers float first)
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Scrub color: Any color

* Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* Must be proficient with a broad range of NICU skills including: administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, bubble CPAP, central line care and blood draws, developmental care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), high frequency ventilation, hyperbilirubinemia management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, IV vasopressors, management of chest tubes, meconium aspiration, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), neonatal abstinence syndrome, neonatal dosage calculations, neonatal sepsis, care of neonates under 29 weeks and 29?34 weeks, NICU III and NICU IV, nitric oxide (iNO), oscillators, oxygen delivery systems, phototherapy, phlebotomy, post abdominal surgery care, pre-cardiac surgery care, respiratory distress syndrome, seizure disorders, sepsis work-up, starting and maintaining IVs, suctioning (ETT, NT), surfactants, telemetry monitoring, therapeutic hypothermia, thermoregulation, tracheostomy care, UAC and UVC management, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
* Ventilators managed by respiratory therapy
* Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years (can include Charge RNs/Leads)
* Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment and/or forfeiture of guaranteed hours
Facility:
This short-term acute care facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 629 staffed beds. As a teaching hospital, the facility is committed to clinical education and maintaining high standards of patient care. The NICU unit consists of 61 beds with a daily census of approximately 52 patients, and benefits from robust interdisciplinary support services including respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams.
