RN - MedSurg Oncology

Job Details:

* Night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with day shift rotation available from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, rotating through pods every 6 weeks
* Every other weekend requirement; nights require Friday and Saturday, days require Saturday and Sunday
* Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Patient ratio of 1:4-5 with charge nurse on each shift who typically does not take patients
* CNA support available; CNAs work 8-hour shifts with one per pod during the day and 2 CNAs for 28 beds at night
* Oncology experience is required
* Must be able to read and interpret full telemetry; will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam during onboarding
* Experience with central line and port access, including sterile dressing changes, is preferred
* Titrate drips including Heparin and Cardizem; may encounter other cardiac drips
* Perform nebulizer treatments, breathing treatments, and trach suctioning; RT will manage CPAP and BiPap
* Charting system: EPIC; first shift includes Epic class with option to test out for inpatient experience
* 1-2 days of preceptor orientation, maximum 2 days
* Floating required within Med Surg/Telemetry service line in rotation with permanent staff per union guidelines
* Primary placement at St. Joseph Medical Center - Tacoma, WA; may be required to float throughout Region Two including St. Clare Hospital - Lakewood, WA and St. Elizabeth Hospital - Enumclaw, WA
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Professional scrubs required; no t-shirts, closed-toe shoes required
* BSN not required; willing to wait for license submission
* Required certifications: BLS; Chemo certification through ONS provider card preferred

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a 28-bed MedSurg Oncology unit designed in a 4-pod layout, providing comprehensive oncology and general medical-surgical care. The unit also houses an inpatient hospice program and is equipped with central monitoring for full telemetry support. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and maintains a collaborative environment with dedicated charge nurses and CNA support on every shift.
