Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend required - day shift works Saturday/Sunday and night shift works Friday/Saturday
* Every other holiday required including Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
* No on-call responsibilities on this unit
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 for telemetry patients and 1:3-4 for stepdown patients
* Unit consists of 20 beds, all private rooms
* Common diagnoses include telemetry monitoring, post-catheterization care, medical/surgical with telemetry monitoring needs, and respiratory difficulty
* Nurses are expected to understand and be comfortable with basic dysrhythmia interpretation and verify telemetry strip readings
* Nurses place IVs and draw labs from central lines when ordered
* Nurses reconstitute antibiotics; telemetry patients may have titrating heparin
* Floating may occur to a comparable or lower level unit such as telemetry or med/surg
* Block scheduling and self-scheduling available for travelers depending on unit needs
* Charting system: EPIC
* Navy blue scrubs required - nurses must provide their own
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
* Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
* At least 1 year of travel experience required
* Proficiency with EPIC preferred
* Valid driver's license required with address outside 50 miles from the facility

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a telemetry unit with 20 private rooms and comprehensive support services available around the clock. The unit benefits from dedicated monitor technicians, a unit-based pharmacist available five days per week, 24/7 pharmacy coverage, and respiratory therapy present in the building at all times. A covering hospitalist is available 24/7, and the unit is supported by two patient care technicians responsible for patient ambulation, vital signs, bathing, and documentation.
