Surgical Technologist

Job Details:

* Day shift position
* Minimum 2 years of recent open heart experience required
* Must have EPIC experience
* Ability to scrub open hearts in a solo capacity as well as in tandem with a second scrub technologist
* Ability to take call 50% of the time, typically a full week at a time
* Prepares surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases
* Checks required supplies and equipment prior to each surgical case
* Assembles appropriate supplies and equipment prior to operative procedures
* Sets up operative instrumentation and sterile field for expedient retrieval and utilization
* Completes instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse according to established standards
* Sets up and maintains a neat and orderly sterile field with careful attention to aseptic technique
* Labels solutions according to established standards
* Cleans equipment and facilities as necessary
* Transports patients according to unit schedules and priorities
* Required certifications: Certified Surgery Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification, and CPR or BLS certification from an approved vendor
* Preferred: Open to teaching and training RN with ability to scrub cardiovascular cases and experience in general OR cases including robotic, orthopedic, urology, and gynecology
* High School Diploma/GED required; Associate's/Technical Degree preferred
* Scrub technician experience and operating room experience or training course preferred
* Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred
