Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend requirement
* Holiday rotation required
* No on-call or standby requirement for agency staff
* Floating requirements to MedSurg, Tele, and ER with full patient load
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3, with some lower acuity patients
* 8-bed ICU unit providing primary care nursing
* Common diagnoses include sepsis, general medical and surgical cases, stroke (TNK), DKA, pneumonia, ETOH withdrawal, and post cath recovery at radial and femoral sites
* ICU RNs are expected to run codes within the facility
* Required to titrate drips including Levo, Neo, Propofol, Fentanyl, Precedex, Insulin, and TNK; some medication mixing required
* EICU at night for 6 of the 8 beds, aligned with UW Health center
* Responsible for telemetry strips with no monitor tech on unit; GE Carescape and Airstrip Technology used
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* 2-year minimum ICU experience required
* Previous travel experience highly preferred
* Code Blue Command RN and phlebotomy experience are a plus
* Meditech experience a plus
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Illinois nursing license required
* BSN not required
* Scrub color: Any color professional scrubs
* Department-specific orientation consists of 2 12-hour shifts with a resource available for documentation support

Facility:

This acute care facility operates an 8-bed ICU with 24/7 hospitalist coverage and in-house support during the day. The unit is supported by a charge nurse who takes patient assignments, a nursing supervisor who is patient-free, and care support staff including CNAs and unit secretaries based on acuity. The facility also features respiratory therapy equipment, telemetry capabilities, and a connected telemetry unit with nurses available to provide backup support during codes.
