MS Neuro RN

Job Details:

* Work 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* 4-5 weekend shifts required per 4-week period with holiday rotation
* Patient ratio of 1:5
* No on-call required
* Floating within scope to meet facility needs may be required
* 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
* Required certifications: BLS
* Preferred certifications: ACLS, NIHSS
* Care for adult and geriatric patients on a 23-bed inpatient General Neurology, Medical Stroke, and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
* Manage patients with diagnoses including Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures, and medically managed strokes
* Support continuous epilepsy monitoring, Comprehensive Spine Center, and Comprehensive Epilepsy Center programs
* Provide overflow care for neurosurgical and spine surgery patients
* Required skills: CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident), isolation precautions/PPE, Med/Surg, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, peripheral line care/management, pre/post neurosurgery, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Charting system experience required
* During hurricane season (June through November), all contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams

This facility is a leading academic medical center offering specialized inpatient neurology care, including a dedicated unit for general neurology, medical stroke, and epilepsy monitoring. The unit features all private patient rooms, including a reverse air flow room, and nine rooms hard-wired for continuous epilepsy monitoring a program unique to this unit. The facility supports nationally recognized comprehensive spine and epilepsy center accreditation programs and provides a high level of interdisciplinary care.
