Job Details:

* Night shift position with self-scheduling and block scheduling options available
* Minimum of 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
* Holiday shifts required
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 in a 14-bed unit
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
* Charting system: EPIC
* Navy blue scrubs required
* RNs must be comfortable reading telemetry strips and escalating to a physician when concerning findings are present - no telemetry or monitor techs on unit
* RNs required to titrate drips including analgesics for pain management, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
* Common patient diagnoses include congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
* Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow oxygen, and ventilators
* Nurse aids available with a ratio of 1 aide per floor once census reaches 9 patients
* Charge nurse takes an assignment
* Floating may be required to other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele as determined by nurse manager
* Call or standby requirements determined by nurse manager
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Experience working in a rural setting preferred - must be comfortable with lower resources and typically lower patient volumes
* Must be within 60 miles of facility and driver's license must be submitted
* Must be available in-state during week of orientation

The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic health record system and supports a collaborative care model with charge nurses, nurse aids, and physician oversight.
