Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts with variable start times including 7:30 AM?8:00 PM, 10:00 AM?10:30 PM, 11:30 AM?12:00 AM, 1:30 PM?2:00 AM, 3:30 PM?4:00 AM, and 7:30 PM?8:00 AM
* AM shift workers will be mixed among AM start times and PM shift workers will be mixed among PM start times only - no late shift followed by an early shift
* Shifts will be scheduled based on unit need with no block scheduling
* Minimum 4 Saturday/Sundays within a 6-week period (2 weekends total) required
* Holiday shifts as needed
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5
* Care for pediatric and adult patients including stroke, STEMI, trauma, abdominal pain, and high acuity ESI Level I patients
* Administer and monitor common drips including Nicardipine, Propofol, Fentanyl, Norepi, Nitro, Versed, and Precedex
* Read and interpret cardiac monitors using SpaceLabs monitoring system
* Work within a 45-bed ER including 4 hallway beds, 4 vertical rooms, 1 trauma bay, 1 resuscitation bay, and 1 cardiac room
* Collaborate with CNAs, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, physicians, and APPs
* May rarely float to sister emergency departments within the health system
* Charting performed using EPIC
* BSN required
* Minimum 2.5 years of emergency department experience required, preferably from a larger urban hospital setting
* Trauma experience preferred
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC
* No specific scrub color required as long as clothing is clean and professional
* Must reside outside of a 50-mile radius of the facility

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a high-volume emergency department treating approximately 170 patients per day, holding designations of Trauma Level IV, STEMI Level I, and Stroke Level II, with active pursuit of a Level III Trauma designation. The ER is supported by in-house security available 24/7, respiratory therapy around the clock, on-site imaging, and a dedicated charge nurse who carries no patient assignment. The department is well-staffed with physicians, advanced practice providers, CNAs, and sitters to ensure comprehensive patient care.
