Opportunity:
RN - Pediatrics CVICU
Job Details:
* Pediatric CVICU/CICU cardiac experience required for this position
* Tuesday start dates available
* 27-bed unit operating on an acuity adaptive model caring for both ICU and step-down level patients
* Patient ratios of 1:2, 1:1, and at times 1:3
* Day and night shifts available with 2 charge nurses per unit (ICU and step-down) and 1 PCT per shift
* Rotating weekends required (day shift Saturday and Sunday, night shift Friday and Saturday)
* No on-call responsibilities
* Equipment used includes IV pumps (Medfusion and Baxter), Hillrom beds, hard cribs and cribettes, GE radiant warmers, Somanetics NIRS machines, and Servo U vents
* EMR system: Meditech
* Scrub color: Royal blue
* Required certifications: PALS, BLS, ACLS
* Minimum 1 year of Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse required
* 3-4 contracts in a dedicated Pediatric CICU required
* Minimum 2 years of PICU experience as a staff nurse required
* Experience caring for patients with congenital heart disease and post-operative management of CHD patients required
* Experience with management of arterial lines, central lines, and transthoracic lines required
* 2 or more years of Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse preferred
* At least 1 year of experience with neonatal cardiac patients (pre-op and post-op management) preferred
* 2 or more years of pediatric cardiac experience in step-down or cardiology floor preferred
* Typical procedures include central line and arterial line placement, conscious sedation, intubation/extubation, post-op recovery of general and cardiac procedures, sternal closures, codes, ECMO cannulation and decannulation, CRRT, and manual PD
* May float to PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, and pediatric oncology

This facility is a dedicated children's hospital tower housing a specialized Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU on the third floor. The unit operates with an acuity adaptive model, allowing care teams to manage both ICU and step-down level patients, ensuring continuity of care. The facility supports a multidisciplinary team environment with a strong focus on compassionate, high-acuity pediatric cardiac care.
