PCT - Psych CPEP
Job Details:
* Available shifts include day (7:00 AM?3:30 PM), evening (3:00 PM?11:30 PM), and night (11:00 PM?7:30 AM)
* Every other weekend requirement
* 46-bed unit divided into sections, with one section designated for triage and fast-track patients
* Nurse-to-patient ratios vary
* PCT duties include phlebotomy, 12-lead EKGs, 1:1 patient monitoring, transport, ADLs, patient contraband search, property inventory, and assisting physicians and nurses
* Must have phlebotomy and 12-lead EKG experience
* Common diagnoses include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, anxiety, depression, and trauma; patients are typically medically stable with multiple comorbidities
* Medications include IM injections and PO medication administration; psychotropics such as Haldol, Zyprexa, and Ativan
* No IV administration required
* Cardiac monitoring available; PCT must be able to identify major rhythms, life-threatening rhythms, and rhythm changes
* X-ray and CT available; PCTs are responsible for patient transport
* PCTs perform all blood draws
* Respiratory therapy available on-site to administer breathing treatments and assist with escalating respiratory needs
* Security available in-house 24/7
* Charting system: Allscripts
* Scrub color: Maroon
* 3-week unit-specific orientation: 1 week of classroom training, 1 week on inpatient units, and 1 week on the assigned unit
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) via NHA, and De-escalation Training

This acute care facility operates a comprehensive Psychiatric Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) with a 46-bed unit dedicated to serving patients with severe mental illnesses and behavioral health needs. The facility maintains 24/7 in-house security and offers robust support services including respiratory therapy, cardiac monitoring with Tele Techs, and on-site radiology.
