Job Details:

* 12-hour shifts available (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
* Night shift position with 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
* Holiday rotation with permanent staff required
* First to float when needed
* Patient ratio of 1 to 4
* Float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and additional emergency department locations as needed
* Care for ED patients who are waiting for bed placement, primarily med/surg and telemetry patients
* Must have strong cardiac telemetry background, preferably 2 years of experience
* Must be able to decrease cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters
* Common titratable drips include Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
* Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips independently as no monitor technician is available in the ED
* May assist with ED patients including vitals, IV starts, and medication administration but will not serve as primary RN for ED patient assignments
* ED patient care technicians available on unit
* No ventilators on unit; no on-call requirements
* Self-scheduling available, subject to change
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Charting system: Cerner
* Scrub color: Navy
* 2-shift orientation to med/surg/telemetry at primary campus
* Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum of 2 attempts)
* Must pass a simulation lab evaluation on day one of orientation
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)
* Active state license required

Facility:

This acute care facility operates at a Trauma Level 3 designation and features a large emergency department with 60 ED beds at one campus and 31 ED beds at an additional location. The facility utilizes Cerner as its electronic health record system and provides comprehensive cardiac and telemetry services. ED patient care technicians are available to support nursing staff, and the organization maintains a collaborative environment with charge nurses and house supervisors available to assist the care team.
