RN - Psychiatric/Behavioral Health (Pediatrics)

Job Details:

* Night shift position in a locked/secured inpatient psychiatric unit
* Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
* No block scheduling guaranteed, though requests will be considered; weekend-only block scheduling (Friday?Sunday) may be accommodated
* Patient ratio of 4:1 across all shifts including weekends
* May require floating within inpatient psychiatry, potentially to Liberty campus
* Minimum 1 year of experience in a psychiatric setting required; pediatric experience is required
* Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty required
* 1 year of travel experience required
* Experience with bipolar, anxiety, eating, psychotic, and depressive disorders preferred
* Previous charge nurse experience is a plus
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills required
* Must be physically competent to lift 25 lbs and participate in physical holds/restraints
* Must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training (provided within first month of contract)
* Previous training in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) strongly preferred for select positions
* Must consistently comply with wearing behavioral personal protective equipment (provided by facility)
* Duties include medication administration, nursing assessments, facilitation of therapeutic groups, safety checks, assistance with ADLs (meal supervision, bathing, toileting, laundry), recreational engagement with patients, de-escalation and code response, and 1:1 sitter supervision for high-risk/acute patients
* Patient/family education and attending rounds to share information with the care team
* Perform nursing interventions for chronic and acute mental health diagnoses with documentation in EMR
* Admissions and discharges included in responsibilities
* Regular shift documentation in Epic electronic medical record system; Epic experience preferred
* Required certifications: BLS, TCI
* Valid Ohio single-state or compact nursing license required
* Must have 2 manager references within the past 12 months at time of submission
* RTO requests must be submitted at time of submission; maximum of 5 days allowed
* 64 orientation hours required

Facility:

This world-renowned pediatric healthcare facility operates multiple inpatient psychiatric units dedicated to crisis stabilization for children and adolescents ages 4 to 18. The facility supports a daily census of up to 15 patients across 15 beds and 15 rooms, treating diagnoses including ADHD, DMDD, bipolar disorder, psychosis, intermittent explosive disorder, depression, aggression, and moderate to severe intellectual disabilities with autism. The organization maintains a locked and secured unit environment to ensure patient and staff safety, and provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support for complex behavioral health cases.
