Job Details:

* 8-week assignment with full-time schedule of 3 shifts per week
* Rotating weekend and holiday schedule required
* Work in a LDRP unit with 9 beds, 1 OBED bed, 4 NICU beds, and 1 OR suite
* Patient ratios: 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections; couplet care 1:3; newborns 1:1 until stable; NICU 1:3 intermediate care with minimum 2 NICU nurses in unit at all times
* No unit secretaries or techs available on unit
* Must have labor and delivery experience including ability to labor and recover the mother as well as receive and transition the newborn including assessment
* Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other OB emergencies preferred
* Advanced skills required: fetal monitoring education and experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil)
* Procedures performed on unit include C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, and vacuum or forceps assisted deliveries
* Equipment used includes CPN Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps
* Documentation systems: Meditech and CPN
* Daily rounding on all patients and SAFETY rounding required
* Floating policy: if not needed on unit, staff are expected to float anywhere within the facility; some staff are cross-trained to float between LDRP and NICU
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring training
* Required dress code: Pink and/or brown scrubs per infant security policy

Facility:

This facility is a Joint Commission certified medical center with designations as a Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center, and Level II NICU. The Women's Services unit is staffed by a highly experienced team of nurses, many with approximately 30 years of experience, serving as excellent resources and preceptors. The unit functions as a cohesive team and offers a unique opportunity to gain experience across labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care in a supportive LDRP environment.
