Opportunity:

Radiation Therapist

Job Details:

* Work day shifts from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM; if assigned to warm-up duty, shift begins at 6:45 AM
* Weekly guaranteed hours of 36 per week
* May flex out 4 hours or work a full 40 hours based on unit needs
* Schedule varies based on department needs and can include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
* Call requirements to be discussed during interview
* Must have 3 years of recent TruBeam experience
* Required to pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
* May be required to float to the needs of the organization up to competency level
* Administer prescribed therapeutic radiation doses to predetermined treatment areas for patients
* Perform localization procedures necessary for preparing patients for radiation treatments
* Operate linear accelerators and simulators
* Operate electronic health records, record and verify systems, and other department software programs
* Provide support, education, and teaching to cancer patients and their families
* Assist in onboarding new team members and educate students
* Perform basic dosimetry, custom block fabrication, charting, and nursing and secretarial support tasks
* Demonstrate proficiency in skin instruction, phone, and EMR skills
* Annually demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, and CPR
* Complete annual core competencies specific to department workflow
* Required license: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Radiation Therapy licensure
* Required certification: American Heart Association BLS
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Radiation Control Program credential

This facility is the region's only Level II Trauma Center, treating over 80,000 emergency and trauma patients annually across two emergency rooms. It is home to the region's only children's hospital, a leading robotic surgery institute, and comprehensive heart and cancer services. The facility is recognized for groundbreaking brain and nerve care and houses state-of-the-art technologies including the first accredited heart failure center in northern Nevada, the first Institute for Neurosciences in northern Nevada, low-dose CT imaging, the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System, a dedicated PET/CT scanner, Biplane Angiography, and the newest 3T MRI technologies in the region.
